Steady rise in scrub typhus cases in Hyderabad; kids, elderly highly vulnerable

Image
City doctors in Hyderabad have reported an increase in scrub typhus cases, alongside dengue and flu cases. These combinations of illnesses are particularly complicated for immunocompromised individuals, children, and the elderly. The main reason for the spread of dengue is stagnant water on roads and in construction sites, as well as late mosquito breeding. Interestingly, although scrub typhus is typically seen in rural areas, it is now also present in urban areas. Doctors attribute this to travel to rural areas and the rain-related humid atmosphere. Scrub typhus is a bacterial infection transmitted through infected larval mites. from Hyderabad News: Latest Hyderabad News Headlines & Live News Updates from Hyderabad - Times of India https://ift.tt/gAiFZdN
